Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Coffee Roasters Pro franchise packages, onboarding, and operations.
No. Coffee Roasters Pro is exclusively a micro-roastery franchise focused on specialty coffee production. We do not operate restaurants, bakeries, food delivery services, or business coaching programmes of any kind. Our franchise model covers roasting studios where green coffee is sourced, roasted on-site, packaged, and sold through retail counters and wholesale channels. If you are seeking a full-service restaurant franchise, a commercial bakery operation, a meal or beverage delivery platform, or a generic entrepreneurship coaching programme, Coffee Roasters Pro is not the appropriate fit. Our deliberate focus on the roasting studio format allows us to deliver deeper expertise in production workflow, equipment specification, green bean procurement, and quality control than any broad hospitality or coaching franchise could provide.
Every package tier includes four integrated modules: concept design (floor plans, brand application, retail layout), equipment procurement and installation (roasters, destoning tables, packaging stations, ventilation), green bean supply contracts (origin sourcing, lot traceability, seasonal rotation), and operator training (up to twelve modules covering roasting, quality control, retail sales, and wholesale management). Additional services such as permit coordination, launch support, and ongoing technical helpline access are included at all tiers, scaled to your package level.
Indicative package pricing ranges from C$85,000 for the Studio Starter tier to C$450,000 for the Master Franchise tier. Pricing covers franchise fees, equipment, initial green bean inventory, and training. Leasehold improvements, municipal permits, and ongoing royalty fees are quoted separately during onboarding. Detailed pricing breakdowns are provided in the franchise kit and disclosure document available upon request.
No prior roasting experience is required. Our twelve-module training curriculum is designed for first-time operators and covers everything from green bean identification through advanced roast profiling. Training occurs at our Calgary Inglewood production floor and at your studio during equipment commissioning. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of practical assessments and a supervised production roast.
Most franchise partners complete the four-stage onboarding pathway within forty-eight weeks from signed agreement to opening day. The stages are: territory review and tier selection, concept design and lease coordination, equipment procurement and permit support, and on-site training with launch coordination. Compact studio formats in pre-approved Calgary locations may accelerate to thirty-six weeks depending on lease and permit timelines.
Yes. While our headquarters and training floor are located at 1238 9 Avenue SE in Calgary's Inglewood district, franchise partners may operate anywhere in Alberta or across Canada. Package documentation, supply contracts, and permit templates are adapted to your provincial and municipal requirements. Master Franchise partners may hold territorial development rights within negotiated regional boundaries.
Franchise partners pay a monthly brand and supply coordination fee calculated as a percentage of gross retail and wholesale revenue. Green beans purchased through the Coffee Roasters Pro supply network are priced at contracted rates with volume tier discounts. Full fee schedules, including royalty percentages and marketing fund contributions, are disclosed in the franchise agreement provided during onboarding stage one.
Floor space requirements vary by package tier. The Studio Starter tier operates within six hundred square feet or less. The Neighbourhood Roastery tier requires nine hundred to twelve hundred square feet. Production Hub and Regional Flagship tiers require fourteen hundred to two thousand square feet or more. Our concept design team produces layout schematics optimised for your specific floor plate during onboarding stage two.
Coffee Roasters Pro maintains direct-trade relationships with producing cooperatives and exporters across Central and South America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. Franchise partners receive supply contracts covering a defined number of origins based on their package tier, with seasonal rotation schedules, lot traceability documentation, and volume pricing. Inventory management tools integrate with your production scheduling to minimise waste and ensure freshness.
Micro-roastery studios in Alberta typically require a municipal business licence, Alberta Health Services approval for low-risk food processing (coffee roasting and packaging), and building permits for ventilation and exhaust modifications. Coffee Roasters Pro provides permit application templates, health inspection preparation guides, and coordination support throughout the approval process. Specific requirements vary by municipality.
